This site is dedicated to the memory of Eden.
Eden was born in Manila, Philippines on August 27, 1956. She came to the United States in 1990 to marry Mark Haynes. Eden and Mark shared 21 and 1/2 years of wonderful love and family life, until cancer took her from us on January 26, 2012 at the age of 55.
The hole she left in my heart will never be filled. I miss you, Honey Ko.

May she gaze upon you, Lord, face to face, and taste the blessedness of perfect rest. May angels surround her, and saints welcome her in peace. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. And may the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Thoughts
The memorial walkway at Nathan Adelson Hospice, which contains your marker in the footpath, is just around the corner. I drive by it a few times a week. I always think of you. But not just there. Your memory lives in numerous places around time. I drive by some places and smile. I drive by other places and cry. Your memory lives in the hearts and minds of all of us that called you Honey Ko, or Lola, or Ate. It's been 9 years, and although it hurts less today, the hole in my heart is just as big.

Prayer for the Bereaved...
Father,
God of all consolation,
in your unending love and mercy for us
you turn the darkness of death
into the dawn of new life.
Show compassion to your people in their sorrow.
Be our refuge and our strength
to lift us from the darkness of this grief
to the peace and light of your presence.
Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ,
by dying for us, conquered death
and by rising again, restored life.
May we then go forward eagerly to meet him,
and after our life on earth
be reunited with our brothers and sisters
where every tear will be wiped away.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Candles
Even as you lay dying, your thoughts were mostly with the kids, and I promised to care for them as best I could. The grandkids are all great, and they all recently joined me for an evening of Mario Party, your favorite game. I felt you smiling down on us all that night. We still, 12 years after you passed, think of you, talk about you, and continue to be guided by you. We love you, Honey Ko.

It’s been 10 years since you passed away and changed our lives forever. Some changes were good. Some not. We have felt the depth of pain and loss; we have cried rivers of tears; we have prayed endlessly. But we have healed and learned how to live without you. We still talk about you. But we’re now able to smile and laugh. We still love you. We still miss you. And we pray that God has granted you eternal peace. Rest now, my love.
